Technically, I have 2 songs of the week. Coming off of a pretty rotten election season, everything seems divided. Honestly, in my lifetime, the country has never felt this split to me. In a week where we come together with friends and family, I hope we don't lose sight of all that brings us together in lieu of all that drives us apart.
One song is Bob Marley's classic One Love from 1977. The song needs no description. | Albeit this song isn't quite as direct as One Love, One by U2 (1991) is about building unity after a division. The song is actually about the band's almost breakup, the band members finding it difficult to stay together because of their creative differences. Not only is the song about overcoming those differences, but rumor has it, writing the song itself actually actually helped keep the band together. |
