First off, I apologize for not providing you a song of the week last week. I know I let down millions of people.
My song of the week is from a band that provides some overlap between generations, Angels & Airwaves. The lead singer (Tom DeLonge) is also one of the members of Blink 182. Blink 182 is not only one of my favorite bands, but they were at their peak when I was in high school and college. Needless to say, I get a little sentimental when I listen to them. In Angels & Airwaves, he brings with him that pseudo-punk sound but experiments further with a somewhat electronic/futuristic edge. I discovered this song kind of by accident. The song, Surrender, was a free download on iTunes. I sampled it, enjoyed it, and then bought the entire album... they roped me in. The sing is from a 2-part album for a movie Angels & Airwaves created called "Love". It is/was on Netflix... you should add it to your queue. Be forewarned, it is weird, it is kind of depressing, and it doesn't make a ton of sense... it's a thinking person's movie. That being said, the soundtrack is really good, Surrender being one of many good songs.
I also think this song is a good choice because it is about being young and finding your path and your voice. Enjoy.
